Final Round Performances From the Tahs

On Saturday it was certainly a case of saving the best to last for several of our sides, with 1sts, 4ths and C3s all putting in their best team performances with the bat for the season. The Grade sides took on Newcastle City in 2 dayers with 2nds and 3rds needing wins as they aim for finals spots. In 1sts, Jonty Durrheim got us off to a blistering start, scoring 90 in quick time in a great opening partnership of over 100 with Declan Owens. Skipper Scott Mackenzie did the hard work through the middle overs scoring 66 and leading us to 316 at the end of 90 overs.

In 4ths, club legends Steve Christie, Ian "Reds" Liddell, Martin Francis and Simon Thibault combined to get us to 7/203 against a very strong City side. C3s had the result of the day in their final outing for the season. Chasing a mammoth 244, John Slobodniuk and Troy McGrath scored centuries to chase the target 1 down against Maryland - well done guys! The C3s will finish one game outside finals in a very close comp.

2nds and 3rds are evenly poised in their all important last round encounters. 2nds bowled City out for 215 and are 0/25 in the chase, while 3rds struggled with the bat, posting 139, but had a good spell with the ball to end the day with City 2/12.

D2s had a loss, with their 207 chased down by Bennett Hotel. But the boys have done enough to secure a finals berth in their first season together and will get a rematch next week.

D7s also had a loss against Cardiff RSL and slipped to 3rd on their ladder, meaning they also get a rematch Semi Final next weekend.
