Emma Jayne stars as Waratah Girls wrap up quick win vs. Wests

14th November 2019

Our girls put together a polished bowling performance last night to roll Wests for just 16. Cassandra McLaren stepped up to skipper the side, and led the way with the ball, taking 2/4 opening the bowling. Emily Palmer had the other end under control with 1/5 off 3, including a sharp catch to keeper Skye Lovett.

That opening spell had Wests at 3/8 after the first 6, which was a great start, but no one was prepared for what came next. Emma Jayne took an incredible 6/4 off just 2.3 overs to race through the middle and lower order and set the best bowling figures in WMDCC T20 History. To cap it off, Emma's last 3 wickets were a hattrick, with an LBW and two bowled to finish the innings.

The chase was all over in 5 overs, with Tayla Braithwaite (13*) getting the majority of the runs.

Well done girls, the win has earnt them a home semi-final at Waratah Oval next Wednesday.
